The shortlist

A laptop bag is the piece of carry that has to work twice: it protects the most expensive thing in your commute and it represents you before you say a word. The picks below cover the range that matters, from a messenger built for weather to a leather briefcase built for rooms that notice, so you can match the bag to the way you move rather than to a feature list.

Each product links to its current listing rather than a price we would have to keep chasing. Tap through to see what it costs today.

  1. Targus 15-16 Inch Laptop Briefcase

    Why choose it

    The dependable workhorse, no apologies.

The Targus briefcase is the one that has been doing this job longer than most of the category has existed. It is a straightforward, purpose-built laptop carrier that fits machines up to sixteen inches, and it does not try to be anything other than what it is: a reliable workhorse that shows up, holds your gear, and gets out of the way. If you want a decision that requires no justification, this is it.

  4. LOVEVOOK Laptop Tote Bag 15.6 Inch

    Why choose it

The tote that doesn't look like a laptop bag.

LOVEVOOK has quietly become the name people mention when they want a laptop tote that does not announce itself as a laptop tote. It is built in the tote silhouette rather than the briefcase one, which means it reads as an everyday bag first and a tech carrier second. If you want your laptop protection to look like part of your regular carry, start here.

Questions,
answered.

Briefcase, messenger, or tote, which should I choose?
Briefcases read formal and carry in hand; messengers ride across your body and suit active commutes; totes blend in as everyday bags. If your day is client-facing, lean briefcase; if you walk or bike, lean messenger; if you want something that doesn't look like a laptop bag, lean tote.
Is leather worth it for a laptop bag?
Leather ages and suits formal settings, but it is heavier and needs more care than fabric. If your bag is part of your professional presence and you value materials that improve with time, leather is worth it. For everyday commutes and lighter carry, fabric is usually enough.
